Default Looking for a 1 or 2 wt blank

My son, who has become an avid flyfisherman, would like to add a light line rod to his growing collection (I trained him well!) to use on the spring creeks of the Driftless area. Being that he is a starving college student who's shoulder surgery this summer cost him all but three weeks of employment, I'd like to find a blank in the sub $100 price range. He does have a Forecast 4wt that I built for him a few years ago and it is a remarkable rod for any price, but they only seem to offer the 2wt in a 6'6" configuration and for whatever reason he would like something longer.

    Any recommendations?

    Global dorber has a 9' 2 weight or a 10' 1, 2, 3, or 4 weight.

I built this7'-0" 1 wt from Dancraft. It's a fast action good for in close and intermediate casting/ I overlined it to 3 wt andcan get 50' out of it.

Dan's stuff is good, and he also has an 8' 2 weight in the sig III line.

    Default 2wt

    Hello!
A Steffen or McFarland glass blank would be a blast in a light line weight, but more money than you're looking to spend. So would a McFarland Vintage series graphite.

I have a St. Croix Avid 7'9" 3wt 4pc rod I picked up on a bargain, and it is a really nice graphite true 3wt that is great fishing fun! I would imagine the 7'6" 2wt Avid (SCIII blank) would be a great little 2wt. I know the blank retails for $130, but if you shop around you may find a bargain for $90 - $100 on this blank.

Anyway, just another thought to ponder.

    Tom
