If you've read my posts in the freshwater forum, you know about my Myakka Minnow, a tiny fly I created that does pretty well for bass, panfish, etc.

The beauty of the fly, however, is that you can tie it on any size hook and use it for any species.

To date, I've caught bass, bluegill, shellcracker, stumpknocker, tilapia, barramundi, rainbow trout, brown trout, speckled perch, salmon and barramundi on it.

In salt water, I've caught spotted seatrout, jack crevalle, ladyfish, Spanish mackerel, little tunny, snook, redfish, mangrove snapper, pinfish and flounder on it.

I tied up a couple of 3/0 for my buddy, Capt. Rick Grassett of the Snook Fin-Addict Guide Service here in Sarasota. He called me yesterday and told me that he'd just jumped 60-pound tarpon on the Mykka Minnow.

We had a fly tournament meeting yesterday afternoon and he informed me that he jumped another tarpon on the fly later.

"I cast 5 or 6 other pattersn without a looke," he said. "The Myakka Minnow was all they'd hit."

That made me feel pretty good!
