Looking for some help in identifying some hackle that I recently saw for sale.

I was in a local shop and they had some Whiting dry fly capes. The packaging said "Hoffman Genuine Dry Fly Hackle" at the top and "Whiting Farms Inc" at the bottom but it was the red color that I am use to seeing the "Whiting" capes packaged in...not the green "Hoffman" that I usually see. I know that Whiting farms acquired the Hoffman line some years ago. These capes were listed as #3 (Bronze?).

The fellow behing the counter wasn't much help but that is another story. This shop is known to carry some unusual items and I'm wondering if these are old stock that they picked up.

I'm trying to figure out exactly what these capes are and where they fit into the Whiting line. I've tied with Whiting silver grade and the hackle in the 100's pack and also with Conranch hackle and these are all 1st rate.

Does anyone have any insight into what the "Hoffman" hackle is and where it fits into the Whiting food chain? Is this more of a "tyer's grade"

Thanks in advance.
