Last season I needed a new boat net in a hurry for a float when my old net was broken unloading the boat. The only one available was a measure net. My old net was a round, rubber mesh one that I really liked, and was used to.
The next day when I first attempted to use my measure net I nearly had it ripped from my hands when that fine mesh bag hit the current. I never did really like that net and replaced it with a new round, rubber net. For me the main issue was the fine mesh net bag and the way it caught the current. The flies getting hooked in it were a pain too. One funny situation it brought up was when clients tried to stretch a 15" fish out to 18", until I scooped it up in the net.
Having said all that, I do know a few guides who love their measure nets.
