    Smile Sharpes Boo Blanks

    Hello everyone,
I haven't posted on this board much in the past but I am wondering about something and thought that some one here probably has the best answer. A few years back, Cabela's had the Sharpes bamboo blanks listed in their catalog. They were two piece blanks and were available as two different wt sizes. I think they were 4wt and 5wt. Cabela's no longer carries these blanks and I am curious if these are still being offered somewhere and who carries them. (I think I recall that the Sharpes were a division of the Partridge Hook company or another British firm.)
I realize that there is a very big difference in the quality of manufactured blanks and hand fabricated blanks but at this point I cannot think beyond the blue collar range. Thanks in advance for your help.

I remember those blanks as well. I just looked up the Sharpes of Aberdeen website, and it appears they no longer make bamboo rods. By the looks of the carbon rods they carry (and prices) they appear to be Asian imports. I could be wrong about that though.
The English fly fishing industry is no longer what it used to be. Even Hardy has sold out to Globalism and much of their stuff is made in Korea now.

Perhaps not Sharps, but with little effort you will find other blanks available in your price range.

Sevier Mfg makes a couple boo blanks, 4 and 5 wts. Elkhorn rods also sells boo blanks I think.
There are others also that sell blanks the average person can afford.

    Cool Seen better days...

Sharps of Aberdeen has had some serious financial problems the past year. They purchased or merged with T&T and bought Able, and promptly ran out of money. Think I would look elsewhere too. Ask Betty Hiner about the Elkhorn boo blank she built!
