The last thing to consider before starting my next rod build is the size of the guides.

Starting with the thought that there is good reason that most rod manufacturers use "standard" size guides, whatever standard means, for good reason, I am wondering what the folks here think about using oversize or undersize guides. Experience, opinions, preferences ??

One point that came up in another thread was the advantage of oversize guides where cold weather fishing and icing is a problem. The rod I have in mind isn't likely to be used for winter fishing ( from October to April around here ) so that issue doesn't have to be addressed here, although additional comments are welcome if someone has strong preferences on this point, for future reference.

Thanks in advance for you ideas and opinions.
