    Default Castwell's knot once again...

    Has anyone used the Castwell knot with a furled leader? Have you ever lost a furled leader using this knot?

    It's just to simple, it can't work .....there's no way unless the knot takes a few hours of practice, has a minimum of 16 different twists and turns, and has the word "surgeon" in it someplace, can it hold good enough to keep from losing my furled leader.

    I only have a couple of furled leaders at this time and don't want to loose them, but that knot is so simple it's very tempting to try.

    Tennessee Jack ...... what say you?

    Robert;
    The Cast Well Knot is a variation of the "Weaver's Bend" and will hold very well on any fly line to leader loop connection

    OK thanks Jack - I'd hate to see one of your furled leaders being slung off into the river. I think I'm going to like those leaders you make.

    I use it on all my leaders even the furled ones and it has never come undone. John

    Bob the Castwell knot is the Mother of all knots.

    I learned it a couple of weeks ago and will never use another knot again.

    Tim,
    You might want to re-think not using another knot again...

    I've been using the knot for the past two years without a loss of any sort. Just make sure it's snug.
