Fly fishing and fly tying are two things that I do, and when I am doing them, they are the only 2 things I think about. They clear my mind.
Warren,
Me too. It really chocked me up. I hope Tregg is posting here as he would be greatly welcomed.
That letter was certainly a great reminder that Al's spirit lives on here at FAOL. I still miss Al but responses like this ease the pain a bit. 8T
I wonder how many folks could sit down and write a similar letter about the help they've gotten from Al's tutorials. When I run into a new tier, Al's lessons are the first place I tell them about. What a great lagacy.
I discovered FAOL when I did a search for fly tying. I wasn't interested in fly fishing at the time, but I had a 40 year torch to learn to tie flies. When I found Al's series (and FAOL) I was hooked. I learned so much from his tying series, email exchanges and his other writings as well as his interactions through the bb. Since learning to tie I got into fly fishing and never looked back. I owe a great deal to Al for his "giving of himself." He embodies the spirit of this website JC and the LF have worked so hard to bring us for all these years. I am very thankful his spirit lives and and we continue to remember the man.

Trout don't speak Latin.
This letter represents " innocent ignorance" and THAT's what makes it so good. I read it and considered it a fitting eulogy to a great friend of FAOL.
I too miss his presence.
