come out to california!! id be happy to take you up and down the owens river. february is one of my favorite times to fish the lower river. daily midge hatches with decent surface action, and even the occasional baetis hatch in the afternoon, making the browns go loopy.

the average daytime temps in bishop in february are 40-60 farenheit. the water levels are even and steady, and the fish hold in open areas, just waiting for a nice pile of midges to float by.

ive caught my biggest trout from the owens in the dead of winter. 19" brown on a dry fly in the middle of february aint too shabby, IMO.

if you do come out this way, look me up. the entire owens river below crowely lake is open year round, with a 0 limit through the winter. even the pleasant valley resevoir is open if you want to float tube...
