I just got back from four days in Grayling and I figured I'd post some pictures to whet your appetites....

    Holy water:

Couple of pictures from the south branch:

And finally, a nice little brown that ate a #12 Adams Wulff at the base of a sweeper at high noon:

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Did you stay at Canoe Harbor or just fish there? I'll be camping there for the week.

We camped on a private lot about a 1/4 mile downstream of canoe harbor.

Thank you for posting the lovely pictures of the AuSable! Just looking at that wonderful water makes my blood pressure go down, and makes me relax! Until, I start thinking about how soon we'll be there and then I get excited all over again!

Why were you fishing on the South when the North branch was covered up with Brown Drakes? Says I who floated from Lovells to Dam 4 three days last week.

We were camping on the south branch, but fishing all over the place. There were drakes hatching on the south up near chase bridge.

Good, glad you got into some of them. The North last week was covered up in Drakes. Wednesday, they were hatching out during the day and we had thousands of shucks in the water drifting past the boat most of the day. Wednesday evening the combination of spinner fall and hatching drakes covered the river just north of Dam 4 to the point you almost could not cast your fly on the water without hitting a spinner or dun.

One night on the holy water we had:

    sulphur spinners
    drakes hatching
    stoneflies twittering about

You gotta love the hatches of the Au Sable.
