Default Anybody in NW Ark want to go fishing?

My trout fishing experience is limited to mountain streams and headwaters, for cutthroat and brook trout. But I just moved to Arkansas and it's time to learn to fish for 'Bows and Browns in the tailwaters...

But I'm pretty clueless. So if anybody wants to teach a young dog a new trick... yeah, it's a desperate plea.

    Default NWA tailwaters

Due to the extremely wet spring here in NW arkansas, the tailwaters below all our major impoundments are experiencing huge water releases making it almost impossible to wade fish. Right now you probably need a boat to fish these areas. As summers comes and the rains stop, the flows should return to normal and I would be glad to meet up and show you some of the better fishing holes and techniques. Right now I'm confined to fishing from my kayak. Where do you live ? (I live just south of Bentonville). You can send me an email if you don't want to communicate via the forum (jsmartt@uark.edu). Right now some of the warm water rivers are more friendly. (smallmouth fishing using either fly outfits or spinning, but once again the best results are obtained by floating in a canoe or kayak.)

A bit of an old thread, but the water is in perfect wading condition now(well minus the ice we got this week). I have been down many times over the past few months and had good success.

Tightlines Flyfishers meets the 3rd Monday of every month at Jim's Razorback Pizza in Springdale. Come on out and meet some of us. We're just a bunch of folks that enjoy fly fishing for whatever will take a fly. The next meeting is Feb 16.

Shoot me a note and I'll go fishing sometime.

I second Wayne's invitation. I have fished with most of the guys, but only made it to one meeting so far(gotta get my priorities right lol).

Wayne, missed you at SWEPCO. Was sure cold enough to keep a person at home.
