    Default Fly fishing for Vets

    double entry - whoops

I met the founder this weekend at the SE FFF conclave, after talking to Ken I signed up to help his organization Fly Fishing for Vets where wounded veterans get a chance to fly fish. I volunteered to be a guide for veterans and will be building a rod with a birchbark grip, hand turned reel seat, teaching the other member to wrap a guide on the rod so each member can have some hand in building the rod and then auctioning it off. Any donations that you may have will be appreciated - flies from swaps, flies never used, reels that are just sitting around - post or PM whatever you can donate - thanks Mike

I wish I had more to donate, but I could donate some flies. PM me your address and I'll tie some up and get them in the mail next week.

    Cheers,
    Shane

Thanks to everyone to has responded - Fly Fishing For Vets is modeled after the Healing Waters program started in Virgina. All items - one or two flies, a rod, reel, no matter how insignificant you may think what you have to give is, it is a big THANK YOU to the wounded vet returning home with an injury that they have to adapt to for the rest of their lives. The gratitude of these guys is beyond belief.

the warm water, trout flies donated so far is going well.

Chris your LL Bean rod can find a good home here .

    Send any donation to:

I'll try to get some flies in the mail. By the way Mike, I lived in Peechtree City in the late '80s and early 90s. Worked a Braillen (sp?) golf coarse for a while. Played golf for Clayton State Lakers. I miss those days. I live in Colorado now. I sure loved that area though.
