For those of you who use lumbar packs instead of vests... do you have or wish you had a waterproof fly box? Is it necessary?

Diane, No. I prefer a box that will not trap moisture which leads to rust.
Hi Diane,
I like the C&F waterproof boxes. I prefer to keep the water out so my flies don't get wet and rust

A good box, for about $15-$20 is the scientific anglers system x box ( not totally sure on the name) Which I believe Wal-Mart now has. Good Luck

how many flies can that x-box hold compared to a C&F?

Hi Diane. Another box for you to look into is the Bug Luggage series. They're crushproof, heat resistant, have a durable light clasp and the liners won't absorb water. There are 3 different sizes. The Trout Box has 136 small fly stations for hook sizes 6-22, the Big Fly Box has 66 stations for sizes 3/0 to 10 and the Baby Bug Luggage has 68 small stations for sizes 6-22. Plus they come with a 20 year warranty. I got 3 of mine through Cabelas. Hope this helps you.
Mike
