    Default Crawdad/Crayfish Swap (FULL)

As you all know the freshwater crustacean known as crawdads, crayfish, mudbugs -- call them what you will -- are a major forage food for many species of fish. In the Texas hill country the Guadalupe and Smallmouth Basses love them (I've caught a number of smallies that still had parts of crawdads showing in their throats).

A few of you know that I've been mentioning hosting a crawdad swap for a number of months. I finally have the time to do so.

    Swap details

    Number of tyers: 12
Sign-up dates: May 10-16 (swap is full as of May 15)
Number of flies to tie: 12 (everyone will receive an identical set, makes sorting easier)
Flies due date: July 1, 2008 or earlier

When sending the flies, please toe tag or provide a recipe card. Please provide a return envelope/mailing label as well as enough postage to cover the mailing costs.

I have been wanting to get in on a crawdad swap for some time so count me in. Haven't decided on which one yet.

    Default will this work?

Is this an acceptable craw for the swap?

    HugeFish80,

That looks like it would work quite nicely. One thing about crayfish patterns is that there are a lot of permutations of similar things, and the number increases daily.

    Michael,
I'll take the last spot with my version of Dave Whitlock's "Near Nuff Crawfish".

    Steve,

Glad to have you in the swap! I know you've been busy with a number of projects. Once the water conditions stabilize in OK/MO/AR, I might have to make a trip up to fish with you and Toby -- the Wilsons said Big Sugar Creek fishes better than the Elk River... that's high praise for a body of water.

The swap is full! Thanks to everyone for joining.

    Michael
