I'm under the impression that fish like being caught. It's kind of like skydiving for us humans. I think the problem that so many people have is a direct result of this catch and release mentality. There are probably a great number of fly fishers who have never killed a fish. They probably don't even know how to clean one. Go out and kill some fish sometime to remind yourself that you participate in a bloodsport no matter what the magazines tell you.

I struggle with the same questions but I think you can find questions in all aspects of your life that don't have clear answers, you have to decide for yourself what you feel is morally acceptable. People like PETA are happy to help the weak minded make these kinds of decisions.
