Yeah Jack, we need some pics. I'm looking forward to seeing that rod! Sounds like it might be your "goto" rod for a while...

Nice! Did you turn the handle yourself?

No Joe, I had my first lesson in turning cork as an observer.
I did learn something else about cork grips. Don is a firm believer in proper fit. I've been having a problem with a sore wrist at the end of a long day so this grip was turned small enough to allow my 2 middle finger to just touch my palm. Fished about 6 hours yesterday and very minor soreness in the wrist. I'm rigging up a jig right now to allow me to use an electric drill to start turning down my other grips.
Another interesting thing that he pointed out was "Spline". It's less fatiguing to cast a "Splined/Spined" rod all day. Maybe another reason I felt fresher at the end of day Sunday.
Can't wait to start the next one! This is akin to an AA member falling off the wagon!!
very nice mr. hise. i would not do fancy either. what kind of reel seat did you use?

Jack, that's a beautiful rod. Fine job you did!!
Thanks for sharing,
Shane
I used a Pacific Bay reel seat. It was about the lightest one I could find.
You guys will get a chance to cast it at the Michigan Fish-In.
Great job, Jack. I wish I had the time to get back to making rods. I have been so busy that when I do get some free time, it's spent doing other things. I have 4 blanks in the basement plus a boo to wrap. I'd like to at least have the boo finished for the MIFI next month. Retirement is being good to you...I'm just a little bit jealous.

Nice work, Jack. I like the looks of it, I like the understated thread and I like the grip. I would like a couple more close-ups to look at, though. It's nice to see you are back at it!
