I picked up some old SA fly line on clearance earlier in the year for $10 (regurlarly $50). The only "problem" was that it was white. Not really what I wanted. So after reading about it somewhere, I decided to dye the line. I bought some Rit dye in royal blue, and mixed it up in 2 cups of boiling water, then added 2 cups of cold water to bring the temp down. I put the line in for a couple of minutes, dunked it in cold water to rinse and set the color, and ended up with a rich purple/blue flyline. It is a little darker than I expected, but I still like it a lot. It is definitely unique in color. Try dying your lines if you need to. It works amazingly well. Next time I think I'll try something brighter like red.
