    Default Dropper

Do any of you use a popper with a dropper tied on. If you do what is your normal combination. I have used like a stimulator or other large dry and a dropper before and works great but have never used a popper dropper method. Had a guy tell me it is just about the only thing he uses for bream. Just interested if any one else does that.

When I do use a dropper, most of the time it is a clear/tan Rainey's Beadbody Scud about a size 10 or 12 tied off with about a foot or two six pound test monofiliment behind a foam fly like a yellow Nymphomie Pusher Dremel Bug. I have to admit I don't use dropper rigs very often because they are hard to cast and usually only use it as a last resort. I have tried using nymph flies also.

    Thumbs up Frequently!

When brim or bass fishing, I like to use a dropper nymph fished off a Gurgle Pop. I either fish the dropper off the bend of the Gurgle Pop's hook about 18" or fish the dropper in front of the Gurgle Pop on the tag end of a surgeon's knot. It works well when brim are not hitting the Gurgle Pop squarely and are just messing around with it, pulling it under the water and tail-swatting it. They will often take the nymph. 8T

I almost always tie a dropper when fishing a popper or large foam fly. I usually go with a much smaller fly about 18" to 24" below the surface fly. I like midges and small nymphs that represent another normal food that is present in the water. Scuds, Hares Ear, Pheasant Tail, etc. Even very small jigs in the 100th to 180th ounce sizes work great.
