Kudos for Al and Gretchen's FOTW. Ever since I first saw the "wonderwing," "reverse hackle," or "looped hackle" style of winging on FAOL (brought to us by A&G), I've been a huge fan.

The split wing parachute is usually the first style of mayfly I pull out of box. It combines the split wing -which I like - while always landing properly (my vertically collared flies are often landing challenged)

FWIW, I don't have much difficulty in posting the wings. I do it pretty much like I would turkey flats or parapost. The difference is that the wings will begin to torque while I wrap. To fix, all I do is reverse wrap a second layer - it gets the wings straight while adding strength to the post.

I wrap the wings like a standard parachute as well - tying off on the hook.

I would really emphasize step 5. Make sure you pull the wings apart before cutting off the excess! If you cut the excess first, getting the wings apart becomes a mini - nightmare.
