About 6 years ago a friend and I were discussing our mutual disgust at the river trash and agreed that "somebody ought to do something about that." It took me a couple of years to realize who "somebody" was.

Local clubs had done it before, but I felt it was important to identify as many stakeholders as possible and get them involved. We have all been so enriched by the partnership. The TU chapters and the local sportsman's clubs did not always see eye to eye on fishing issues over the years, but all agreed without hesitation to work on cleaning the river. The river, in so many ways is the common ground.

If anyone would like to pm me for tips on running your own clean up, feel free. Don't for a second think that you can't do it. I'd never even organized a brownie troop before!
