Thread: locating guides ??

    Default locating guides ??

I have bought a fly rod blank off the bay and am looking for some advice on locating the guides. It is 8' 10'' 3/4 weight 7 pieces. Each section is 16 3/4 inches long. My daughter is a senior in college and is constantly backpacking around in the NC mountains and I want to suprise her with it. I have made quite a few rods in the past but but nothing in such small sections.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dan

tape your guides on temporarily and string it--- turn the blank with the guides up and bend the rod pulling the line---adjust the guides so the space between the line and the rod blank is about the same distance midway between the guides----the idea is to get an even stress on the blank
