    Default Simple Bluegill Fly

I tied this up on TMC 246Z Nothing special, just pheasant tail body and peacock herl thorax. But I hope to have some success fishing it.

"Nothing special"...you won't be saying that when your hauling in the Gills on a nice, easy quick tie!

Drop it in front a Crappies or Largemouth as well...they'll eat it up!

I don't know, just call me Forrest Gump, but it looks more "buggy" than "fishey" to me!

'gills love peacock herl, and I've never had them turn up their noses at a pheasant tail nymph. Should be a winner.
If it swims and eats, it'll eat a fly.

Years ago, Dick Nelson designed a fly that's called "3P" (because it's main ingredients are Pheasant, Peacock, and Partridge). He was in the hospital at the time recovering from a triple bypass.

The fly here is missing a soft hackle collar of Partridge so I guess it's a 2P.

More info on the 3P's design process (and Dick Nelson) can be found at:

Your fly is in very good company.
