    Default White river classic

A 9' 2pc 8wt White river classic w/ removable fighting butt came to me for free. I got a 7'9" wonderod off of someone and he mailed in a WR tube and left the rod in there told me he didn't want the WR so I could just have that too. Been test casting the wonderod and loving it. Today I decided to try out the White River. I wasn't expecting much, maybe because I wasn't expecting to have it. I don't know if my casting has improved or time on the wonderod has helped or if it is the rod but , I was really impressed. I was laying out such long cast that I just started laughing while it floated out on the foward cast.Loads on short well good dampening.Dual rings on mahogany inserted reel seat, simple black wraps. Not sure the story on these rods, I think Basspro discontinued the 2pc and only sells a 4pc. Anybody know anything about them? Seems like it might be part of one of their of their low priced combos? regardless it was a very nice suprise.

I have a two piece White River combo that Amy picked up at a yard sale for $25. Not bad at all.

I've got a buddy that has had a white river classic rod and reel combo for several years. It's the only rod he owns. We'll occasionally switch rods and I'm always amazed at how well this $100 rod performs. Pretty darned well.

Things always work better when you get them on sale and work GREAT when they're FREE! (That's not to say the WR is a bad rod.) Happy for ya.
