    Default Gudebrod Thread

I don't know much about building a rod but I have rewrapped quite a few over the years. I have been reading about Gudebrod thread and it appears that size A is the most popular. Could you comment on the uses of size B & size C? What are their primary purpose/use, etc.

    Thanks in advance.

Size A is the size you want unless you are building a very huge saltwater rod. Question for ya did you buy one of the 4 or 5 weight rods we talked about? I am starting mine today plus a 7'9" 3 weight.

Bob: No I didn't, but we still might. Brett (my fishing partner) and I are still thinking about it.

    Thanks for the response.

Gudebrod threads also come in NCP type meaning "No Color Preservative" needed. Just wrap and coat with rod finish. Type A is used for most fresh water rods. BILL

I worded my question poorly. For that I apologize. Gudebrod thread in Size B is slightly larger than size A which might make it easier for an old guy like me to work with. What I should have asked is "Has anybody used Gudebrod thread in Sizes b or c for fly rods and if so what do they think?

    Thanks, Tim

You can use them but they will be to large diamiter and well for lack of a better word gawdy. I am poor sighted also and wear my magnifing glasses when wrapping a rod. To heavy of a thread is like tying flies with to heavy of thread the looks will not be there. Just my 2 cents
