Default Spring Has Sprung on the Pond ...

We have several pond excavations in this area, the results of road building and such, and are now great fishing holes for bream and bass. Yesterday I got out the 5wt and some emerger flies I had been tying over the winter months and visited one a short distance from where we live. The big bream ... I mean those BIG bream, were really hitting like nobody's business! A couple of them almost jerked that fly rod right out of my hand!

Nothing going on surface wise with a popper, all the fish caught were below. Those good sized bream (and bluegill) are such fun to catch with a fly rod. And with the fly patterns I tied yet!

And we are going to have a fish fry over this way tomorow afternoon!

Congrats. Feels good to wear off the "ring rust" doesn't it?

Man I love those big bream. Just got word one of the brushpiles I had on the ice fell through last night. We're getting closer.
