    Default My First Build..Lamiglas 7' 3wt

    Hello,
I just wanted to share some pics of my first build. The blank is a lamiglas 7' 3wt 3pc. fiberglass. The reel seat is a REC ADS downlocking aluminum w/ cocobolo spacer. I got the grip from Golden Witch. The guides are Pac Bay lite wire chrome snakes, Pac Bay Hardloy stripper, and PB tip top. Thread wraps are Gudebrod Chestnut without CP finished with Gudebrod Varnish. It's not a fancy build, I wanted it to be simple, kind of like some old bamboo rods. I used the Lami decal because the India ink pen that I got didn't work well for some reason. I will do an inscription when I get a better pen. Thanks for looking.

looks good, I'm going to have to make an attempt at rod building one of these days. Everytime someone new tries it, it gives me a little more confidence that I can do it.

Guy's it is really hard :') to believe that it is a first rod - just look at how close the ferrule wrap is to the end!!! Jeremy - great job on a first rod - the maroon wraps really add to the appearence - Mike

Excellent job! I really like the chestnut wraps on this blank, and I think you were correct in NOT using CP.
    What's the next project?

Thanks for the kind words Gentlemen.

Joe, my plan is to build another Lami honey colored glass. I've been wanting a short light line rod that packs down really small, something that fits in a day pack. Lami makes a 6'6" 3wt 6pc in the glass series. I will build that one at some point but, I don't think it's going to be my next build. I may build the 7'6" 4wt 2pc Lami honey next. When I ordered components for the 7' rod I ordered extra stuff so I already have what I need for my next build, all I need is another blank. I think thats a sign that I may be addicted to this hobby. Oh yeah and I need to build the Lami 8' 5wt glass at some point as well.

You are going to love the "E" glass. I have the 7' 4 wt 3 piece Lami. and used it at the lodge on 18" and up Kamloops. That thing handled the big boys with no problems.
