I am, can't wait. One month or so, and it's smallie season. Whoopee! While you wait, here's some porn from last year. . .

That's my friend, Crawdad Craig, creator of the Hairy Fodder now carried by Rainy's . . .killer on smallies, shoalies and many other species.

Cookie-cutter smallie from my favorite smallie flow.

That's me with on of my pets last May.

Best smallie last year, came late April on a Whitlock's Scorpion.

Nice fish and beautiful country and river. I checked your Profile to see what part of the country you are from, but, there is nothing there. Where are you located?

    Thanks.....

Fly fishing and fly tying are two things that I do, and when I am doing them, they are the only 2 things I think about. They clear my mind.

    Smalliesam -

    Greetings and welcome from Idaho.

Those are some nice looking fish. Don't have much opportunity to fish for anything but trout around here - but fish like that could tempt me to try some other parts of the country.

The thing I remember best from my few visits to N. C. ( Charlotte area ) in the '70's is the accent. One of the neatest accents I've ever heard. Do those smallies talk pretty ??

    The fish are always right.

In WNC the accent is much different than Charlotte, but the smallies speak a language I fell in love with a dozen years ago. It's all in the fight my friend.

    S-Sam;
BEAUTIFUL smallies! Not, to mention, some great looking country to catch them in.
There's a new "Smallies fishery" that's recently been discovered, near the Portland, Ore. area. A few guys have taken 17"-19" and one 21" Smallie already, so I'm anxious to see how it works out and if this new area lives up to its current standings for how long.
I'll know, more, in about a month when I get a chance to fish it.

WOW those are nice looking smallies! I haven't had the opportunity to go after smallies yet, but I will be dreaming of fish like those now.

As I undertand it, there's lots of great smallie water out West that's overlooked. I've been told it's much like our trout rivers here in the South. Most people don't realize they turn into smallie rivers in the lower reaches where the water is too warm for trout. Sounds like you've found one. Looking forward to the reports.

I love Florida. And I love Florida fishing. But damn I wish we had smallmouths. Those fish and the scenery look really great.
