    Default Rod wrap color combination.

OK. The rod kit I have came with 3 different thread colors: Gold, Brown and Green.
The blank is St. Croix "Carbon Pearl Finish". What kind of color combinations of wraps would you recommend? I got 100 yards of each thread color so it should be enough for just about anything.

    Thanks.

The green and gold can look nice. That's what I used on my first kit from Cabela's. But keep in mind that you can get another spool of thread for only a dollar or 2 (probably locally) and pick anything you like. I tend to use 3 colors primarily anymore. Gudebrod Cobalt blue, Gudebrod Garnet, and Sulky metallic pine green (not sure on the exact color name). I like the Sulky metallics better than the Gudebrod because they don't have the nylon core and tie up a bit cleaner IMO. Sulky metallic can be found in most sewing stores. The Garnet and Cobalt are gorgeous once the finish is applied. I don't have any current pictures of the garnet, but here is the blue and green.

Just finished up a rod for one of our members here, with the wraps being dark green and maroon ticking. Didn't use CP, so the colors went real deep (not dark, deep ... looks like jewels). Another one I did, for me, was finished off in a gunmetal gray ... really beautiful! You needn't stick with the colors they sent, if you feel moved to experiment.
