I am tying some bass flies for a trip to TX. I need to put weedguards on some of the flies. My past attempts have not lasted very long as they come loose at the hook eye. I put the mono through the eye and tie it down. Someone told me to use pliers to flatten the part of the mono that goes through the hook eye. However watching a video on HatchesTV, he flattened it but it did not look like he put it through the eye. What's the best way to do it? The pattern I am working on now is a bucktail deceiver type (no feathers) with weed guards.
