Just a thought on this topic.
Any of us old enough to remember when the movie " Urban Cowboy" also remember that the price of good boots went through the roof!!!!(thye havent come sown either).
Thank goodness that that isnt the case with fishing gear.
Any way, so what that a movie came out with a few good actors .
It sparked a goodly bit of interest in a very worth while sport.
The folks that follow fads were apt to say to themselves "Wow , that looks like a cool thing to do" . So they go out and get geared up, spend a bunch of cash and then it takes a bit of work to get it right. They say forget it , too much trouble, and sell off the stuff at a bargain (hurra for a cheapskate like me).
The folkes that saw it and are not the ones that follow fads but had never seen a casting display (you gotta admit that they had some mighty nice loops in the show) saw somthing that looked like fun ,gave it a shot and liked it.
Now they fish too.
Its a win win situation as far as I see it.
I win all the way around.
Quality stuff at a bargain or more potential fishing buddies.
Not a bad advertisement as I see it.
