    Default GIERACH SPECIAL Swap

I thought it might be fun to tie John Gierach's streamer as described in TROUT BUM
and was hoping there wouldn't be a pic of one on the net...no such luck!
    http://www.danica.com/flytier/bobpetti/bobpetti.htm
Still it might be fun if we can get 6-12 tyers to compare their interpretation of the original or a
variation like the one shown in the link.

    G. SPECIAL as described "a body of Pearl flashabou piping is wound on a weighted, long-shanked streamer hook.
The beard is a sparse white bucktail tied just past the bend of the hook. The wing is
a medium bunch of gray-squirrel tail tied just a tad longer than the beard, with a topping
of 6-8 strands of pearl flashabou under 6-8 strands of peacock herl. The head is a salmon-egg-red
    with black-on-white painted eyeballs."

If any interest...sign-up by March 2nd in the mail to me by March 23rd.

    I'd like to do this!

I'm reading two of his books right now, one being "good flies" and that streamer isn't even in it.

    Thanks
    Steve

Put me down for a spot, should be interesting to see everyones interpretation of the same fly.

Besides my problem with most swaps is deciding what to tie, not an issue with this one

... and gal? Would ya have a gal in the swap?
Trouts don't live in ugly places.

A friend is not who knows you the longest, but the one who came and never left your side.

Don't look back, we ain't goin' that way.

    Default may i play too?

what a unique opportunity! swaps are this gal's place to learn new patterns, and it will be neat to see how everyone approaches it. just have to "acquire" a squirrel tail and i'm good to go. it could be my reward for sorting and organizing the tying area last week--i can actually find what i thought i had!
fly fishing and baseball share a totally deceptive simplicity; that's why they can both be lifelong pursuits.
