Default The latest fishbum bamboo creation

Just putting the finishing touches on my latest bamboo rod if anybody is interested. Two coats of varnish and it is ready to go. It has the following specs:

    Length: 10 1/2 foot
    Line: 8 weight
Construction: Hollow fluted butt and tip
    Geometry: Hex
Ferrule: # 18, female 303 stainless steel, Male 30% nickle silver (inhouse)
    Tip top :5.5
Reel seat: Aluminum hardware, maple insert (inhouse)
    Grip: Cork two handed
    Line to cast: 50 foot

This rod is light enough to by used one handed but it is designed to be cast two handed. I am excited about using this rod this spring for steelhead on the Pere Marquette River in Michigan. I will probably test cast it Thursday on the river that runs near my house.

    Default Sweet!

I am just starting my first boo rod. I can't wait to figure out how to make something like that! You'll have to let me know when you make it up here, I would love to see it.

I can't get varnish dry that fast. The thing won't fit in my drying rack. Thursday at the club meeting.

Seems to be a nice combination. Could you post some pictures of your rod? What is it's weight in oz., what taper are you using? I was thinking of making something similar in the future. Let us know how it casts..

Yes, ........... Yes I did. I miss it too! Many other fly fishers are in the same boat we are. We do have some fly fishing supplies in Fort Wayne. Rick, The other fellow that was in the store most of the time went to another bait store and set up a small fly shop.

I will put the last coat of varnish on the rod today and will probably take some pictures on Wednesday. Why don't you come up to Fort Wayne for the Three Rivers Fly Fishers meeting on Thursday and see it in the flesh.

    Default Big bamboo fly rod

OK folks. the rod is finished. I have some pictures on a simple web page at
    http://members.aol.com/canerodfw
I am not much of a photographer so please forgive the poor quality of the pictures. There are links at the bottom of the page to get you to the latest rod made by me.

    Thank you for the interest.
