I suggest a different approach. The internet will supply the pictures. They fly reminded me of a Grizzly King, except that the red is at the throat and the natural mallard is the tail. Here are some Grizzly King examples. How does the French fly compare? - that is where we can start. I agree with Betty, rather than one person making hundreds, I suggest fifty tiers each tie 4 or 6. As we know, there are regional and personal variations on some flies, and these will be examples of those personal differences. I am sure M. La Behotiere would be happy to send each supplier a thank-you on his letterhead (suitable for framing over the tying bench).

I would tie these for less than $1.00 USD each + shiping, though I think there would be some kind of hassle in the export that I don't know I'm ready to deal with. I suggest you contact a company like Montana Fly Company, provide them with 5 identical patterns and recipies and place an order with them. You should expect to pay about $9.00 USD per dozen of these if they are tied well with quality materials. I would not do it that cheap.

To everyone who has offered help, advice and interest

I have had a reply from a french tier who is happy to make the lot up for me. He knows the fly well. I think this would be best as it would be only right to support the French anglers, industry.
I am thrilled with the excitment that my post has generated, so perhaps if anyone who is interested in making a La Behotiere fly, may I suggest that if you email me, I will send you the drawings and you could have a go at it and send one to me with your details. I could make up a board in the Moulin Club house (Old Mill house) were many anglers will spend their time and we could display the different flys with your details. It would be great to see how different or the same they turn out and you get to have your fly displayed in France.
    What do you say?
Again heaps of thanks too all

That would be fun. I for one would like a better description of the materials and pattern if you could get good translation.

    Greg,
If we don't get a better translation before hand, I will ask an angler from the Fario club when he is here in late september. He has good english. In the mean time I will send you by email the two publication pages on the fly. The pictures are only sketches, but they might help.
I think this could make a great talking piece for the club house and maybe if you find your way to this part of the world, you can take your fly from the wall and try some fishing on our river.
