Question Is this a reddington fiberglass rod?

    Hi all,

I was wondering if you could help me to determine the identity of this rod. The label was completely off when I got the rod. So really I have no idea what it is. The seller that sold me the rod said that it was a reddington Super Cast rod. It is a 8'6" (probably 6wt) and you can see the pics that it has a blue reel seat, and blue wraps with spiral at the end of each wrap.

That's a fiberglass rod but I doubt that it is a reddington unless reddington made rods that old. The metal ferrules and style of wrap tell me it's likely a fiberglass rod from the 50's early 60's. I don't believe reddington was around back then.

The rod does look like a prime candidate for restoration. Most those old fiberglass rods cast like a dream. That one looks like a good one.

    Pan,

I did rewrap this rod, indeed I put 9 guides in place of the original 6 that it had. I cleaned up the ferrule, and the grip, the reel seat was in perfect condition. So I just cleaned up the old varnish and I'm ready now to varnish the wraps and the blank. I wanted to inscribe the name of the rod, and this is why I'm asking you guys if you have an idea who made this rod. Just a note, it came with an automatic reel and a level line...

I'm thinking Reddington Super Cast sounds a lot like Phillipson Powerkast. The blank and wraps look right, but the reel seat is wrong. Are the ferrules painted nickle silver?
The reel seat looks more like a Garcia Conolon to me, but that's just a guess. It looks newer than the rest of the rod
The guys over on the fiberglass board would know for sure

    Dudley,

Thanks a lot for your input and the link! I new that there was a fiberglass rod builder site and I couldn't find it!
I will let you know what the people over there say about the rod

    Thanks again

I think your right dudley it's a Garcia Conolon, the color of the fiberglass and the reel seat are giveaways. I have a fiberglass Conolon spin rod that was my Dad's with the exact same coloring.
