I've never been a fan of Clousers. I tend to avoid heavily weighted flies in general. I've only used Clousers in saltwater, and most of the time they have not produced for me. That's probably because I don't tie one on until my other fly choices have resulted in failure, which might just mean there are no fish around. I know of only one instance in which a Clouser performed significantly better than the Deceivers that I usually use. I recall someone once asked Lou Tabory at a seminar "What's the best way to cast a Clouser?". He said "with a spinning rod". I'm inclined to agree.
