Well I have been reading the book "Fly Fishing Through a Midlife Crisis" by Howell Raines and it has got me to thinking. In his book he meets an old fisherman who actually cuts the hooks off of his flies because it is the strike he is after not the play of the fish. It made me think in this world of high competition is it the "strike" we are after or the "play of the fish." We talk about numbers and size of "fish." We take a lot of pics to show off our "throphies" to our friends. I say that the truely great and wise "fishermen" of this world are only interested in the "strike." That moment in time when Howell Raines says everyhting is perfect you have done everything just right. That or it is just plan dumb luck.

What a great book about life not about fishing.

Just some thoughts this snowy morning
