Well, sort of.

I've been playing with a warm water variation of the czech nymphing technique.

Heavy jig type fly with a baitfish pattern about 12 inches above it (both weedless).

Long, level leader that's about 1 1/4-1 1/2 the rod length.

Fish with the fly line just out the rod tip.

Swing the fly to the target underhand, similar to the conventional tackle 'flipping' technique, but without feeding any line. After the flies hit the water, you follow them down with the rod tip (like following the current in czech nymphing) keeping the line just 'taught'. After the flies hit the bottom, jiggle them a few times, then lift and make another presentation to the next target.

Not sure if it's 'fly fishing' (if czech nymphing is, this should be too..?) but it will be very effective for fishing for bass along a cover line, like a tule bank, reeds, things where the depth is pretty constant and you can work along it.
