I just ran across this material at a Fly Shop. It's called Swiss Straw and it's dirt cheap...less than $2.00 for several yards worth. I was playing around with it and this is a pattern I came up with (maybe someone's already done one of these). I' m calling it the SS (Swiss Straw) Crawdad. It only uses 4 materials

Hook: Cabelas Model 40 Streamer size 4
Thread, OD Danville 3/0
Antennea: OD Crystal Flash
Eyes: 50 Lb. Mono, melted on the ends and dipped in black enamel
Legs: Dk. OD Angora Goat, twisted and dubbed
Body: Dk. OD Angora Goat, dubbed
Carapice: OD Swiss Straw
Claws: OD Swiss Straw, knotted and cut to shape
Coat entire carapice and claws with Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails to complete.

I can't wait to try this on my local Smallies. Stay tuned!
