I'm from Burnt Hills NY...Near Saratoga
Originally from the city but have been in Elmira for 23 years now.
Allan
I lived near Ithaca for 16 years, but now am in Colorado and only get back for the occasional visit or vacation.
Dear snipe,
I loved Elmira. I was born in the NE PA coal region so I just love old timey places that never change much.
Do you ever eat wings at Bernie Murray's? They are big Notre Dame fans in there which really bothered me because I'm a PSU grad, but the wings are awesome.
If I was still up there I'd be anxiously awaiting the Chemung County Supervisor's Clambake on Harris Hill, it usually comes around the first week of August. Great eats and great people, it doesn't get any better than that.
Sorry about hijacking your thread MPW.

My home is Massena N.Y. on the StLawrence river, any more upstate and you would be in Canada.

I hope to make that happen...as city life is NOT for me...
OH heres a tip: Stay away from chatrooms...you never know who you'll meet,or where you might end-up....and eventually find there was nothing missing in your life..it was infact "Perfect" as it was.... LOL

"I've often wondered why it is that so many anglers spend so much money on,and pay so much attention to.the details on the wrong end of the fly line.If they took as much care in selecting or tying their flies as they did in the selection of the reel and rod,They might be able to gain the real extra edge that makes it possible to fool a fish that has,in fact, seen it all before" A.K.Best
