Unfortunately, I can empathize with most of the expounding (whining) on this thread. I'm only 65, and hardly anything works like it used to anymore. I've tried most of the things suggested here to improve the vision on the water, and the magnifiers seem to work the best, even if they arent very handy. I've taken to using one of those telescoping wading staffs, and it has reduced my improptu bathing incidents by at least 2 percent. My waders are custom made, to accommodate my incredible bulk. I'm thinking of hiring a valet to help me on with my wading shoes, and to escort me into (and out of) the water. I won't fish alone anymore. (Nobody to report where the body is). This plastic knee works pretty good, but the unaltered one doesn't. Hang on PastorEd. With effort you can become as proficient at whining as I am.One thing remains constant, and that's the love of flyfishing, and flytying. I'm grateful to be able to participate, even though I have to use aids to do it. I'm sure that at some point I won't be able enough any more, and then I'll enjoy reading the exploits of fellow FAOL'ers.
