Squirrel body hair is great for any short nymph tails it's so much less hassle than hares mask and it makes a better looking tail. The under fur is a beautiful light orange that makes a wonderful dubbing all by itself. Whitlocks Red sq. nymph as mentioned earlier is a great warm water nymph. I believe Dave told me it was the first fly he ever designed. Any pattern calling for hares mask guard hairs can have the sq. body hair readily substituted for it.
