Caddis Fly Imitation?

I didn't exactly follow the hackle colors I guess mostly I wanted to use this Golden Badger hackle to see how it looks. I think this is either my first dry fly or at most one of my first that was intended to be a dry fly.

Anyway any constructive comments?

The green wings give the fly some personality. It looks a little like a Henryville Caddis. Lose the tail!

It's no cad, that I've ever seen, either, but I sure like the fly you made, anyway!!
I have no idea, really, "why" it intrigues me, maybe the materials combos, but I really find it interesting!
Whatever, it may represent, I'd sure fish it anyway, just the way it is! Who, knows, Skip........... what insect, is the Royal Coachman, supposed to imitate and look how well IT does!?

Like I said, it's a great looking tie and I'd keep it the way it is. Maybe call it, "The Skip Green Wing"!?

Or, just for fun, clip the collar off flat with the body, harden the wings a bit, with Flexamint and fish it as a hopper pattern!?!

Jumping back in here, a sec........ after checking out your link, given Skip, I noticed they listed "Grizzly hackle and Coachman brown", as materials used. Could be, then, they their photography made the wings on their ties, turn out looking as if they're green, instead of the true grizzly color!?!

'Gills would attack it like candy I bet.

Could also turn it into a Very effective wet fly by using olive partridge or something for a collar and no tail.

Thanks for all the comments and I will most likely be using it for gills since I live on Toledo Bend is Texas and we don't have a trout any where around here.

Actually I didn't care what he was tying that for I just liked the fly with the chart grizzle wings made from hackle tips.

Grease 'er up and sling it out there and hang on. When them little buggers gets to being hungry, they'll eat anything that hits the water. I've thrown some amazing crapolla flies on the water and bluegills have eaten it all.

Keep tying and trying em out on the fish. they'll tell you if you done OK or not. Folks here are not authorities, as we don't eat flies (at least most of us don't).

I agree completely with Joe. Just remember "the fish are always right."
