Jeff,
Excellent article and step by step on a great looking fly. Gonna have a few of those in my box for next spring when trout season opens again. Very well done.

I, also, really enjoyed your article on this fly!
Thank you!

I gotta tie some of those. Jeff, can you tell us what bird the red feather fibres comes from?
Trout don't speak Latin.
Thanks!
TyroneFly, all the feathers are dyed chicken hackles. Nothing fancy required.

Thanks hcmiller,
Had a great holiday. My parents were in from Canada to see their newest grand-daughter for the first time. I was able to get a week off, so we spent the whole time (pretty much) in Rotorua. Only one day had fish come in to the river mouth, and I landed one 4lbs jack on a pheasant tail nymph before switching to the Bluenose Squirrel tail. I hooked up on a 2nd, but it busted me off. I had it tied on behind a Mickie Finn, and I may have had it tied on 3lbs tippet (which is too light for that area; 4lbs is not an exceptional fish for the Rotorua Lakes).

Thanks flyandtie1,
I think you might have some luck with it on some of the lakes you talk about fishing.

I like that fly too and it would seem to lend it self to exchanging colors and some material differences. Guess that I just like that style fly anyway.

This might be a good fly for me to try my hand at dying with Kool Aid.Originally Posted by JeffHamm
