[color=#0040FF][b]Truckee River SpecialPosted: Nov 23, 2007 1:49 pm

This is a very popular fly around Reno, fished in surface film. This fly was invented by Mid Lipera from Sparks NV. Made popular by Millard Fox, Owner of "FOX FLIES", also of Sparks, NV.

If anyone has a recipe they could post or a picture or could let me know the materials used to tye the Truckee River Special with, I'd appreciate it.

To give a little more info, it is indeed a VERY local fly, but it shouldn't be. I have used it as far away as Bear Creek (Ravalli County), Montanaand all over Oregon & Idaho, with great success. It is one of those bugs that looks like nothing that you'll, ever see in the water, but apparently, it looks like food to a trout. As the MOOSE said. it should be fished neither Wet or dry, but in the FILM at the surface. A drag free float is MANDATORY for success. It is usually tied on a #12 hook.
