My son and I were fishing at a large lake here in the Interior of BC . It is flyfishing only , single barbless hook . We were catching lots of trout 12-14 inches . We release everything as Penask lake has just wild fish in it , no hatchery fish at all .
My problem was that several fish swallowed the hook right down . I went to a larger hook which reduced the problem somewhat . I do not know if it is better to shove a forceps down the fishes throat to remove the hook , or as I did , cut the line close the the fishes mouth and release it that way .
