Well, I got my Bugskin. Although I haven't tied anything yet I think it is promising. I ordered the black color and it is nicely grained and lifelike. The thickness is about 1/2 mm I would guess. The only down side I see so far is the price. I was a little disappointed to find only 1 pc. the size of a standard index card for my $6.

Since you only have an index card piece, do you know if someone manufactures punches you could use to make sure you get as many effective pieces for flies?

That's a good thought. I don't know of any off hand but if the flyshops don't turn up anything the craft shops might. The scrap bookers have punches in all kinds of shapes intended for paper or card stock but this stuff is thin enough they would probably work.
