    Default Guess the material?

This is a wet fly that I tie for Sea Run Cutthroats, as well as, West Slope Cutthroat Trout.
(I've also, taken a few Rainbows with it, but not regularly).
It is a known pattern, by a known fly tier.

The tail and body materials are quite obvious as to what they are, but can you guess the white hackle material?
Hint: It's very readily available, but fly shops don't carry it. (Neither do, craft, sewing, or, hobby stores).

(You commercial and/or, older fly tiers, may guess this one right away!?)

    I'll give it a try!

Is it CAPUT ( the fibers that they used in old life jackets years ago? )

I have used that stuff on dry flies with success, float a long time.

    Have a great day,

    Well,

The older gentilman that showed me the stuff years ago, told me it was spelled ; caput.

Then again! Can we really believe an old fishermans stories?

    Thanks for the correction.

    Have a great day,
    chris

LOL ... I would guess that by the time the fly was tied, the jacket that provided the kapok was caput!!
