Thread: Fly Fishing

    Default Fly Fishing

I think fly fishing is ohh so rewarding. There is no feeling like that of catching a fish on a fly that you tied. I think it's a passion. An all consuming passion that slowly takes over your life. Now, some may not agree thats its 'all consuming', but it sure does seem like it.

How would you describe fly fishing? A past time, an art, or a way of life?

Why do you fly fish? The solitude? Stress reliever(I have golf for that.....) The companionships developed along the way?

Actually by a "not too loose" interpretation, it is a RELIGION.
Once upon a time I filled in a question blank regarding religion , fly fishing.
I should have added " on occasion" to postpone (at least) eternal damnation.

    All of the above.

A pleasurable sport to most adults who started fishing when young, to many a studious pursuit. Seems to me only those who come to the sport later in life are determined to turn it into some sort of mysterious art form. The psychobabble is astonishing.

There are no saints or churches of Flyfishing.

Why fish? It's never been said any better than this, and probably never will:

I would describe it as a lifestyle. When I have free time, it is what I think, dream, & talk about. A lifestyle that only another flyfisher can understand, but one that my wife, Colleen who doesn't fish, understands & respects.....she IS the catch of my life!
