Another vote for the Orvis BBS. I use them on my lighter rods and the Battenkill Mid arbor on my others.

I have a Sage 3200 C&P on my TFO 7'6" 3 wt.
It balances very nicely in the hand while casting.
Rod and reel are both about 3 oz. each.
Ross Evo on 3, 5 & 8wt. You need the evo on the 3 wt for the accidental chinook hookup.
I use a Galvan 2.75 Standard on mine. It's green and I like it very much.
My one wish is that when I die my wife doesn't sell my fishing stuff for what I told her I paid for it...
I have to say that I love my Pflueger Supreme knock-off (I think it has an Eagle Claw stamp on it) But it's machined, very light, and has a click/pawl drag, which I prefer anyway. Best of all, I think I only paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $25 for it.
Chances are that the fish that you're targeting with a 3 wt. aren't going to require a disc drag anyway.

Took my sage 3wt to an Orvis shop last year. The Battenkill LA II balanced very nicely and felt perfect. Reel was $189 + tax. They are on sale now on Orvis websitefor $99.
Find the Ross CO on ebay or something. I love mine on my 3.
Have used the graphite Cahills CR002 for the last few years and they work well and light too only paid $1.76 for one, have 3 of them. Now been using old Martin click pawl reels, nice reel for the $$. Very rarely get on the reel on my 3 wt. outfit anyway..
Bo
Hardy Angel featherweight is a great balance on a three weight. They look fantastic as well.
On my TFO 3 weight I have a prestige one Cabelas reel, which is really the Okuna sierra. Great reel for 29.99! I fish the hell out of it! Highly recommend!!
Good fishing!!
