Crappie Candy

I need to see a picture of this fly I think that I have it but it is called something else down here

The url code is turned off right now so the link is not working. Go to Fly Tying in the left menu of the FAOL Home page, then pick Fly Archives. Scroll down the list until you find it in the 2nd Quarter, 2001. I have not seen this fly for sale but you may be able to have a fly shop or a buddy fly tyer tie them for you if you can't find them. My most used size in the fly is a size 8 and I tie it in two colors, the original fluorescent green and also in yellow chartreuse. Best of luck.

You may be thinking of the Clouser Minnow that is similar but this fly is tied with a body and I don't think the Clouser has a body. This fly is a little different than a Clouser Minnow in some fly parts and materials.

Thanks for the location of the Crappie Candy fly, it does look like a good fly to tie. I will make some this winter for next spring.

By all means, do tie yourself some Crappie Candy flies. Robert sent me some a few months ago and they work really good. I've caught bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass, redear sunfish and wipers (white bass/striped bass hybrid). Very good fly, and because it's lighter in weight than a Clouser it sinks slower and you can fish it slower (if those qualities are desireable to you).

Since I don't tie...does any one know of a commercial version that can be purchased?

I caught a nice Pickerel on one a few weeks ago.

Other than tying one up, have no idea of where to get one.

If you don't tie and want to purchase some "Crappie Candy" flies, (it's a great all around fly, invented by a chap named "Al Campbell), sorry, anyway, go to:

This shop sells the "Crappie Candy" fly in.....olive, brown, red and "mixed" colors, for $1.58 ea. (plus whatever his freight is, of course).
